Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap

Card that I sent.

This is the second time I've participated in the Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap and, once again, I thoroughly enjoyed it. This years theme was "Bloom".

Beth Nicholls from "Do What You Love" managed to organize 180 people from 20 countries. You can see more cards on the Flickr site.

My card was made from paper and buttons with machine and hand stitched embellishments. It went across the pond to Liz Kenny in Mossley, Lancs, England.

The card I received came from Briana Tomlin in Yukon, Canada

She cleverly pasted the card to an envelope and had her contact info inside.

Thanks to Beth for organizing this event. I look forward to the next one!

My Best Friends Birthday

This is Ted and today is his birthday. My grandmother purchased him with Top Value Stamps and handed him to me the day I was born (or so the story goes), it was love at first sight.
(note: If you aren't familiar with Trading Stamps please see The Brady Bunch season 1 episode 15)

We've been through a lot together and there were times when I felt like he was my only friend. He knows all of my secrets and he's always been there to comfort me. He is and will always be my best friend.

The only thing I can't figure out is that Ted turns 5o today and I'm only must have something to do with bear years. : )

New Art-Finally

Some of you out there must wonder if I ever produce any work - I do, I just can't show it until it's been published. These days everything has to be so top secret; an image could be stolen before it's even seen by the manufacturers that it was intended for.

The following images are just a small part of what I have been working on for the last 6 months. As some of you know, I like to share, so keeping these under wraps has been difficult. I am really happy to finally be able to show them. All were created for Art in Motion so if you are a licensor please contact them for information.

The stitched collection was a lot of fun to create and encompasses some of my favorite things; stitching, pattern and buttons. I think I created 12 or 14 of these images. The above are available as prints form All Posters.

Loved making these birds, hopefully they will also be available as prints.

This collection consists of 14 (I think) different images and really forced me to step outside of my comfort zone. My studio mate Chad encouraged me to add the gold leaf and the poor man had to suffer through the whole process of creating these with me. Making something more sophisticated and less cutesy was quite the struggle for me but I earned a lot and am very happy with the results. Not shown are tubs, a tea collection and more shoes, bags and toiletry items.

Now I am on to a fabric collection and learning how to do repeats; challenging but rewarding.

Thanks for stopping by!
