HERE'S ALL YOUR SUPER FUN WORKSHOP INFO: Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 10 til 4:30 EXPLORING COLLAGE! Join us for an exciting day immersing ourselves in the joy of making collage! We will alter your found images with a combination of drawing, painting, sewing and more. Lynn will start off the day with demonstrations of design tips, different methods of gluing and some special aging techniques. Her overall philosophy is one of freedom, play, exploration and FUN, which makes this class perfect for seasoned artists as well as beginners. What we will supply: Canvasette Paper in various sizes, samples of collage for inspiration, extra glues, paints, brushes, scissors, some found papers and images. What you need to bring: your stash of great collage stuff as in photocopies of old or new photographs (I like to copy things on heavier paper) journal or book pages, maps, kids drawings, scraps of interesting fabrics, old letters, rubber stamps, cool pieces and parts and stuff you have saved just for collage! Please bring your basic collage tool kit: scissors, paint brushes, a small bottle of Liquitex Gloss Medium, your stamps and stamp pads and a few of your favorite tubes of acrylic paint. Please bring your sense humor and adventure and wear something you can get messy in. What to expect: A great day with tons and tons of one on one attention and lots of laughter, discovery and creativity! We have found this class yields lots of completed finished collages as well as exciting breakthrough and ah ha moments. Making mixed media assemblages with found objects and altered images inside the box format. This class is great as a stand alone experience or a perfect way to incorporate work from the previous workshop. Join us for a day of combining collage and altered objects in assemblage. Explore ways to combine collages with found objects and alternative surfaces in the box format. We will give demonstrations of how to begin with collaging inside a box, with tips on gluing and painting. Next, we will discuss the use of visual elements and objects in design and storytelling. Finally, we will help you unify your finished piece and discuss presentation. What we will supply: glues, paints, brushes, scissors, various found papers, miscellaneous found objects, materials for surface making and examples of finished work. I will have available for purchase several wooden boxes in 10x10 inches and 11x14 inches, as well as plexiglass for a final framed look. What you need to bring: PLEASE BRING A FOUND BOX OR TWO TO WORK IN. You can use a cigar box, wooden drawer, doll case, you name it! The best size is between 5 x 7 up to 11 x 14 inches. Also, pack your special stash of great collage stuff such as photocopies of old or new photographs ( I like to copy things on heavier paper), journal or book pages, maps, kids drawings, scraps of interesting fabrics, old letters, rubber stamps and stuff you have saved just for collage! Found objects as in pieces of wood, small glass jars, branches, doll parts, scrabble and anagram letters, cool old metal, jewelry pieces, buttons, string, tin cans, things from nature...really anything you might want to incorporate in an assemblage. More is better and anything goes. Please bring your basic collage toolkit: scissors, paint brushes, a small bottle of Liquitex Gloss Medium and a few of your favoite tubes of acrylic paint.
