One of the ongoing undertakings that the Super Secret Art Club (we still don't have a name) decided on is a pass around project. Each of us has to bring a project in it's beginning stage; the only criteria being that it has to fit in a Whole Foods grocery bag.
Tomorrows meeting is our first day of doing this so I had to throw something together today.
Ok, I didn't just "throw" it together. I thought about it for awhile and THEN I threw it together.
Here's what I came up with.
I had already gutted this Donna Parker book and used the pages to wallpaper a wall in my house.
Love that dress.
Originally I wanted to do a pop-up bird but couldn't quite figure out how to get it to do what I wanted it to do. Since that didn't work I opted for something dimensional so I made the bird out of polymer clay. The window is cardboard covered with sheet music. I added the fabric to reinforce the spine and to add texture.
It was rather difficult to keep myself from seeing this through to the end but that's part of the experience, letting go. I won't get to see it again until after it passes through the rest of the artistic hands in the group which should take about a month and a half.
I am curious to see what it inspires and to see what it becomes.
I am also curious to see what's in the bag that I receive tomorrow.
