Name Tag

This weekend I will be attending an artist workshop in St. Louis hosted by Mary Engelbreit, Kathy Curotto and Barbara Martin all of Home Companion fame.
My friend and fellow artist, Lori Seibert will be there so I am especially excited to spend some creative time together. Lori is actually the one who told me about this, thanks Lori!

In addition to getting tools and supplies we were told that we had to make a name tag for the event. Both Lori and I moaned and groaned about this and signed off each email to each other asking "Did you make your name tag yet?"

Why making a name tag filled me with such angst is beyond me. I mean, what's the big deal?, it's a freekin' name tag. Maybe it's because I know I will be surrounded by creative people and their equally creative name tags or because a prize is being awarded for the best name tag. The reality of it is probably closer to the fact that I just didn't feel like thinking about it.

Last night I finally set time aside and got down to it. I really wish that I had taken a before and after shot of the studio. It looked like 1000 name tags had been made but there was only one and I am happy with it.

Highpoint Furniture Show

Due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland the show was a little quieter than usual but no less exciting. I worked with my friends at Oly and even though we work really hard setting up the showroom we always manage to have a great time.

The "House Beautiful" party was it's usual spectacular self. Dinner was an assortment of yummy dishes from The Barefoot Contessa and the desserts were divine. Sean McIntyre, from Ironies, and I rustled up several pieces of pie and cake for our table mates. Dean Rhys Mogan from Dean Rhys Morgan, Oscar Yague and Chris Dewitt from Made Goods and Rachel Ashwell from Shabby Chic were a couple of the grateful recipients. When the discussion turned to watches, Sean and I left for the Halo party with slices of Chocolate Cream and Key Lime pie (respectively) in hand.

The photos are of some of my favorite things in the Oly showroom.
Enjoy!

Spring is Here

I am convinced that there is no place more beautiful than Atlanta in the Spring.
Everywhere you look there are trees blooming in every color imaginable. The Wisteria vine, Red Bud trees and Mimosa are my absolute favorites. However, I could do without the pollen that covers everything (inside and out) with a heavy yellow dust.

Marty the squirrel has made a few appearances on the fire escape but not too many. I suspect that he's waiting for me to plant my flower boxes. He seems to have a taste for tender green flower shoots.

Lately I have been painting floral images for Mother's Day and spring products. It's nice to be painting in the season for a change. All I have to do is go outside for inspiration. I've posted a few of the images.

Tomorrow I head to High Point, NC for the furniture show. I will be working with my friends at Oly so come by and say hello if you're attending the show.

I've been busy

It's been awhile since I've posted anything new and I apologize.

New flags, cards and mugs are just a few of the products that I've been working on. The ice cream and bon bon paintings have also been completed. Mother's Day and Father's Day (for next year) starts tomorrow. My friend Chad Barrett has been here working on my computer and adding his two cents to some of my designs. Thanks for keeping my head from exploding Chad.

New samples from Evergreen arrived today and I have them listed with a link to their website. I am really happy with the quality and really enjoy working with them. There are more new products coming out everyday so be sure to check back.
